Microsoft updating service pack 2 to service pack 3

Microsoft is conducting an online survey to understand your opinion of the Technet Web site.

In addition, your computer must at least be running Windows XP with Service Pack 1 installed.

We recommended that you have Service Pack 2 installed before installing SP3.

I have just replaced my hard drive and reloaded windows XP with service pack 2, I found the windows auto update no longer worked.

I tried downloading service pack3 but this did not work either, from what I have read you need service pack 3 for the auto upsdates to work!! I just keep going round in circles the fixit option is also no help.

The final service pack is a a collection of previously-released fixes and product enhancements, as well as a few new features that are unique to this release and improve the system’s reliability and security, such as Network Access Protection compatibility, Product Key-less install option, Kernel Mode Cryptographics Module, and the “Black hole” router detection algothrim.

There’s nothing that new or dramatic here as you can see, but nevertheless, the Windows XP Service Pack 3 still boasts features well worth having.

Earlier versions of Performance Point servers and clients need to be upgraded to version 2007 before the service pack is run.
