Dating violence consists of verbal, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse.

Teen DVmonth.org, hosted by Break the Cycle, is the online hub for all national activities and promotion of Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month, as well as the home of Break the Cycle and Loveisrespect’s annual public awareness campaign for TDVAM.

The website offers resources for youth, adults and communities that want to plan awareness-raising activities in February, such as our National Respect Announcement, which reaches one million youth, advocates and adult allies with a message about healthy relationships every year.

Dating violence is a vicious cycle that not only affects adults but also affects teens.

One in five teens today say that they have been the victim of, or know a friend who has been the victim of, dating violence.

It also provides a strong message to healthcare providers and other caring adults to help youth learn more about the issue, foster healthy relationships, and intervene more effectively when they suspect relationship abuse.

The campaign is expected to reach more than 16 million people.

Nearly 1 in 3 teens who have been in relationships have experienced violence and abuse.

Youth who have experienced relationship abuse have a higher likelihood of being in abusive relationships as adults.

Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month (TDVAM) is a national effort every February to raise awareness and promote programs that help prevent abuse in teen and 20-something dating relationships.

Organizations and caring individuals nationwide have come together to highlight the need to educate young people about healthy relationships and engage them to prevent the devastating cycle of abuse.

sponsors the poster contest every February during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.
